Latin Patriarchate School in Salt

History & Summary

The Latin Patriarchate School in Salt, founded in 1869 by Christian missionaries under the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, was the first Catholic school established in Jordan. Located in the historic city of Salt, it marked the beginning of Catholic education in the country. As the first of what would become a network of more than 24 Latin Patriarchate schools across Jordan, it is often referred to as the ‘Mother of Schools,’ recognizing its pioneering role and lasting legacy in education.
From its earliest days, the school welcomed students from all cultural and religious backgrounds, with the aim of providing quality education and promoting inclusivity. Over the decades, it has become a symbol of academic excellence and cultural heritage, deeply rooted in the community.
Today, the school follows a modern educational approach, combining traditional values with interactive learning and technology integration. Its reputation for producing well-rounded, high-achieving graduates has made it one of the most respected institutions in Jordan’s educational landscape.
