History & Summary
Latin Patriarchate Secondary School – Husun, located in the Central District (Hayy Al-Wasat) on the main Amman Street in Irbid Governorate, is one of the oldest and most distinguished educational institutions in northern Jordan. Established in 1885 alongside the Church of the Immaculate Conception, the school was built during the Ottoman era. Traditionally, schools were founded next to churches and referred to as “pastoral schools.” Although it is a private school, its mission is pastoral and charitable rather than profit-driven. The school carries a strong social message, serving as a model of religious and cultural coexistence. It welcomes students from diverse religious and social backgrounds, promoting a culture of respect and harmony among communities. The school emphasizes critical thinking, self-confidence, and personal development in a respectful and supportive learning environment.
