Latin Patriarchate Secondary Schools Fuheis

History & Summary

The Latin Patriarchate School – Fuheis was established in 1874, following a request made by Father Ghatti to the Patriarch on March 5, 1873, to establish a Latin mission and school. At the time, Fuheis was a small town of 400 people, including 140 Catholics, mostly families originally from Al-Salt. Under the leadership of Father Navoni, the first parish priest, the church and school community began to flourish. The arrival of the Rosary Sisters in 1887 marked a turning point, especially in girls' education and community involvement.
The school and town faced devastation during the Great Migration of 1918, when Fuheis was looted and records lost. However, the town and school rebounded with resilience. In 1932, a new church was constructed, and over the years the school has expanded significantly.
One of the major advancements came in 1996 with the construction of the Secondary School in Al-Allali, supported by the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre in Europe. Since then, the school has introduced foreign language programs, developed sports facilities (in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation), and welcomed international volunteers. Today, the school is a symbol of perseverance, educational excellence, and spiritual strength in the community, blending tradition with innovation.
